How the Ava Lions Club supports the Ava, MO community.
Hearing and Vision Testing
Ava Lions runs an annual vision and hearing event. This event is free of charge. We will provide test results, prescriptions, and eyeglasses if possible. In cooperation with MOCH.
Hazardous Waste Drop Off
The Ava Lions host an annual hazardous waste drop off. The community can drop off their waste items not normally accepted by the city waste management services, for free. The Ava Lions will dispose of the items at a licensed disposal facility.
Peace Poster Contest
An annual Lions Club International contest, held each fall. Each year a theme is presented and middle school students can submit a poster or an essay per the guidelines.
The Little Free Library
The Ava Lions Club is providing a structure to house free books for children, youth and adults. The library box is placed at the Ava Pool. Books will be provided through donations, the Ava Library Sale and the Little Free Library organization.
Lion Diana put out a call for entries for the design of the City of Ava official flag. Over 80 designs were submitted. The community reviewed the designs and submit comments and votes. A panel of expert judges decided a winner, and the winner awarded $100. The flag has been ordered and will fly in July.

Halloween Costume Contest
The Lions hold an annual Halloween costume contest at the City Square gazebo on Halloween. Families, pets, children and teenagers are all asked to participate and awards are given for each category.
Welcome to Ava
The landscaping around the City of Ava sign is provided by the Ava Lions.
Donations
The Ava Lions club donates to many local not for profit organizations. The Mt. Grove All Inclusive Playground, Military Tribute Banners, etc.
The Ava Lions Club participates in community events run by other organizations. For example, the Ava Christmas Parade, Chamber of Commerce luncheon, etc.
